Brc Food 8
CCL gained BRC Food 8 Grade AA, as well as the voluntary Trading Module in November 2015.
The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 8 was published in January 2015 which set the latest benchmark for best practice in food manufacture.
Issue 8 has been developed to specify the food safety, quality and operational criteria that are required to be in a place within a food manufacturing organisation. It aims to fulfil obligations in regards to legal compliance and customer protection.
Issue 8 focuses on the implementation of good manufacturing processes, in particular, labelling and packaging. Another key focus is support for quality management systems as well as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) based food safety programmes.

CCL acquired FEMAS accreditation in February 2008. The FEMAS standard was developed to ensure feed grade ingredient purchasers have peace of mind that the ingredients they are buying meet the most stringent quality criteria. The standard helps to maintain the protection of animals that consume the feed ingredients and the humans who consume products derived from these animals.
In order to comply, a thorough audit and inspection by an independent certification body must take place, showing compliance with both Hazard Analysis (HACCP) and Good Operating Practice procedures.
All major products sold by CCL to the animal industries are FEMAS accredited with plans to add more. Furthermore, our site operates NOPS awareness policy to minimise the risk of cross-contamination.

Cambridge Commodities Ltd was the first nutritional ingredient supplier to achieve Informed-Sport site registration in the UK. This means our site is routinely audited and swab tested to minimise inadvertent contamination with prohibited substances in sport. Being Informed-Sport registered means that the CCL site itself has been tested to show that it has appropriate controls in place to minimise cross-contamination with banned substances. Even trace levels of contamination can have significant consequences and this requires a sensitivity of testing beyond standard quality control systems.
By working with Informed-Sport, CCL is demonstrating its long-term commitment to supplying clean ingredients to the sports nutrition sector. We recommend that all sports nutrition customers test and register their products with Informed-Sport. If you would like a product or specific ingredients to be certified through Informed-Sport, a contract will need to be established with LGC directly. Please contact us for further information or assistance.

This lengthy process involves obtaining organic certificates and detailed information from manufacturers, ensuring packaging is food grade and proving all compound ingredients in products are organic. Further products will be added to the list of organic materials we supply. If there is a product you would specifically like included, please do let us know and we will endeavour to approve it as soon as possible.

Cambridge Commodities gained halal certification in June 2016.
Halal is an Arabic word defined as lawful or permitted. This means that all halal foods must be free from components that Muslims are prohibited from consuming in accordance with Islamic law. This premise extends to the equipment, manufacturing processes and storage of foods which must also be cleansed according to Islamic law.
Cambridge Commodities has a number of ingredients which have been approved by The Halal Trust. Although finished products must be independently approved by The Halal Trust, clients can rest assured that any ingredients supplied by Cambridge Commodities from the halal-certified list will meet the criteria.

ISO 14001 means having a system in place to help us manage our impact on the environment. This can be through reducing the amount of waste we put into landfill or by reducing the amount of electricity we use. People are also part of the environment and they need to be protected too, through proper health and safety protocol when dealing with products or being safe in the warehouse.
