Product No. P12032

Balm herb is a common, widely cultivated plant, found in Britain, Europe, West Asia and North Africa. It is a perennial, stalked herb, with 3-4cm long leaves, and small whitish flowers that appear in spring. The plant has a lemony taste and odour.

Lemon Balm’s constituents include volatile oil, flavonoids, polyphenolics and triterpenic acids. It is used very widely in herbal teas, and as a carminative, sedative and diaphoretic. It also has anti-viral properties (mainly due to the rosmarinic acid and other polyphenolics) and cream containing extracts of Balm is often used in the treatment of the Herpes simplex virus.
