Product No. P03273

Chrysin is a natural, biologically active flavonoid compound extracted from certain plants, such as passionflower and chamomile, honey and propolis.

Chrysin possesses potent anti-inflammation and anti-oxidation properties. Studies have shown it is able to suppress liposacharide-induced COX-2 protein and mRNA expression in a dose-dependent manner.
Chrysin shows vasodilator effects on resistance vessels, which depend partially on the functional endothelium and appear to be related to the nitric oxide/cGMP pathway and, possibly to the release of endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor

Studies have also revealed chrysin countered the effects of aging on male sexuality in rats. Flavones and benzoflavones from passionflower were used in the research, which found significant improvement in overall sexual functions. Treated groups had increased sperm count, greater fertilisation potential, and greater litter size when they were allowed to interact with female rats. Plant flavonoids are believed to have clinical and therapeutic applications against the physiological and biochemical effects of aging, and chrysin shows great potential for this.
There are claims that chrysin stimulates the release of testosterone and body builders are taking it with the hope of raising testosterone levels or stimulating testosterone production, although as yet, this is unconfirmed.
