Product No. P0108

Alanine was first isolated in 1879. It is a non-essential amino acid, which the body can make from pyruvate or the breakdown of DNA, and is used by the body to build protein.

Alanine is one of the most widely used in protein construction, averaging about 9 percent of average protein composition on a per-mole basis, when compared with the other amino acids. Alanine is one of the simplest amino acids with respect to molecular structure.

Natural sources of alanine include meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, and some protein-rich plant foods like avocado.

Alanine is an important source of energy for muscle and is the primary amino acid in sugar metabolism. It has been reported that it can boost the immune system by producing antibodies and is a major part of connective tissue
