Gluten free whole oats are creamy white rolled oats sourced from Scotland, UK. Oats (also known as the common oat) have numerous uses in foods, the most common being rolled or crushed into oatmeal or ground into oat flour. Oats are filled full of healthy nutrients such as protein, fibre, B vitamins and manganese.

The soluble fibre is called oat beta glucan and is highly concentrated in the outer layers of the grains. When digested, this fibre forms a gel like substance in the digestive track. This then works as a binder to excess cholesterol and prevents it from being absorbed into the body through excretion. 

As oats contain gluten and are usually cross contaminated during harvest with other sources of gluten, they are not suitable for someone suffering from celiac disease. However, pure oats contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten which allows them to be ingested when suffering from celiac disease. Incorporating pure oats in a gluten free diet can help to improve the nutritional value.
