GOLDENSEAL ROOT POWDER Product No. P07302


Goldenseal is native to North America. It has a yellowish-brown rhizome about 5cm long and 1cm thick, which is knotted and twisted, and has many rootlets.

Goldenseal has been used for many years by Native Americans to treat indigestion, local inflammations, and liver disorders, and today it is still considered to be one of the most useful medicinal herbs.

It is a drying, anticatarrhal herb, with a gentle laxative and astringent effect, which makes it ideal for treating intestinal conditions involving excess mucus and inflammation. The rhizome is used as a tonic and anti-inflammatory, and when taken internally, it helps to combat conditions such as diarrhoea, poor appetite, poor liver function, gastritis, peptic ulceration and menstrual disorders. Applied topically, it soothes ailments such as conjunctivitis and eczema.
