CORAL CALCIUM Product No. P03042

Coral is not harvested from seawater, but taken from above the seashore. Stony coral minerals are organic because, by definition, they are from a biological origin and a substance in which the nitrogen and hydrogen are directly united with carbon.

They are a whole food because they contain all the minerals humans need in the right proportion. Stony corals, being sea animals, secrete a highly mineralised limestone. In doing this, the stony corals build a housing of protective cups into which polyp animals retreat when threatened. This limestone housing is made of all the minerals available in the ocean. The major minerals found in fossilised stony coral are Calcium, Magnesium, Hydrogen, Chlorine, Sodium, Silicon and Iron. Aluminium and Strontium are also found in sizeable quantities.

Having been previously digested by the coral polyp, coral minerals are readily absorbable and easily accepted by the human body. In fact, surgeons can use pieces of coral in bone transplants without any rejection.

While providing much needed minerals, research over several decades has shown the presence of a large number of antibiotic, anti-viral and anti-cancer substances in the different corals. According to certain researchers, coral calcium may be helpful in preventing cancer because cancer is only capable of living in an acid ph medium with cellular fermentation and a lack of oxygen. Fossilised stony coral, due to it’s high concentration of certain elements, will shift the ph of the body to alkaline, maintain oxygen saturation, and inhibit cancer growth by stimulating natural killer cells.

A medical research group in Japan back up this assertion with an investigation into the effects of Coral Calcium against the metastasis of colon 26 cancer cells in the lungs of mice. They found that the greater the dose of coral calcium, the greater the activity of NK (natural killer) cells, and the increase in the number of Macrophages. The cancer cells of the lungs were seriously inhibited by a larger dose of coral calcium. They stated that coral calcium exerted an inhibitory effect on the metastasis of the cancer cells to the lungs by activating natural killer cells, thus resulting in preventing the proliferation of cancer cells.

  • chitosan

Chitosan is derived from chitin, which is found in the exoskeletons of shellfish such as crabs and prawns. It is similar to plant fibre in that it cannot be digested by the human body.
