Aspartame is an artificial sweetener made up of two amino acids: Aspartic acid and Phenylalanine. It is about 180 times sweeter than sugar and contains about four calories per gram.
Many scientific studies have established the safety of aspartame. Conducted over the past 25 years by researchers at universities and health organisations throughout the world, these studies were reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration before aspartame was first approved for use in products. The FDA's approval has been supported by many regulatory agencies and medical associations around the world. In addition, the FDA has reaffirmed the safety of aspartame over 20 times over the past quarter century for use in the different types of foods and beverages.
Since aspartame contains Phenylalanine, it should not be used by persons with phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare disease. In addition, some people are sensitive to aspartame and report headaches and other ill effects from its use. For most people, aspartame is fine in moderate amounts.

The chia plant is an annual that belongs to the mint family. Chia seeds are considered ‘superfoods’ for their high content of omega-3 fatty acids, and α-linolenic acid. They are also rich in protein, fat, dietary fibre, and essential minerals. Chia seeds slow down the speed the body converts carbohydrates into simple sugars, and swell to create a feeling of fullness, and are therefore ideal for assisting in weight management.

Raspberry ketone is a natural phenolic compound. Chitosan is derived from chitin, which is found in the exoskeletons of shellfish such as crabs and prawns. It is similar to plant fibre in that it cannot be digested by the human body. Chitosan is a fat blocker, absorbing four to six times its weight in fat as it passes through the digestive tract. It thereby flushes fat out of the body before it becomes metabolised and stored as excess body weight.
