AMX BEAN PROTEIN POWDER Product No. P0601

The beginning of the digestive process occurs when food is taken into the mouth, chewed and mixed with saliva prior to swallowing. Saliva contains an enzyme known as alpha-amylase which begins the initial breakdown of cooked starches. After swallowing, food is passed into the stomach. In the stomach, food is mixed with acid and the proteolytic enzyme, pepsin. This mixture is slowly released into the duodenum where it is mixed with pancreatic juice. This juice breaks down fats, proteins, and starches. Absorption of the breakdown products of proteins and starches occurs in the duodenum and jejunum. fats are absorbed in the latter parts of the small intestine. Undigested materials are passed into the colon, from where they are eliminated.

In the late 1930's a number of foods were found to contain natural substances which inhibited the actions of both salivary and pancreatic alpha-amylases. Very little work was done on these materials until the late 1960's. It was at this time that the active inhibitor of the enzyme alpha-amylase was isolated from legumes and grains. The inhibitor molecule was found to be a protein, and the extraction process was developed to isolate this natural protein from legumes, and in particular, from kidney beans.

Raw or uncooked kidney beans also contain some very toxic anti-nutrients and haemagglutins (substances which cause clumping of red blood cells). Cooking the kidney beans is the simplest method to destroy the dangerous substances, but this also destroys the amylase inhibitor protein. Processes were developed to remove the dangerous materials from the kidney bean extracts without destroying the amylase inhibitor.

Extensive laboratory studies were conducted to test the efficacy and safety of the kidney bean amylase-inhibitor protein concentrates. The amylase inhibitor preparation most extensively studied has been the AMX brand of legume protein concentrate. This protein concentrate was found to inhibit quantities of the amylase enzyme equal to nearly twice the pancreatic output of a normal individual secreted during an average meal.

This product exhibits no anti-nutrient or haemagglutination properties. In extensive toxicity studies on both dogs and rats, no alterations of blood haematology or chemistry was noted. In addition, no gross or microscopic pathological changes were found in the organs of the animals used in the toxicity trials. Other studies were conducted in an attempt to determine LD5O dose of the AMX brand amylase inhibitor. A highly respected testing laboratory was unable to establish either and LD50 or toxic dose of this amylase inhibitor. After validation of the safety of the AMX brand of amylase inhibitor, studies were performed in dogs to determine whether the amylase inhibitor tablet blocked the digestion of a meal's content of dietary starch.

The AMX brand of amylase inhibitor was found to block the rise in the serum glucose levels following a large starch meal. The lack of a postprandial serum glucose elevation, in conjunction with the equal recovery of the majority of the dietary starch intake, provided validation that this product blocked the digestion of starch. The ultimate test was to use this product in human subjects. This was done and results were similar to those found in the animal studies. One AMX brand amylase inhibitor tablet blocked the digestion of a meal's content of dietary starch.

The use of AMX is restricted to those individuals who are following a meal plan with a controlled level of calories, of which a substantial portion is starch. These tablets, taken before each meal containing starch, will not block the digestion or absorption of sugars, fats, proteins, or alcohol. This dietetic product enables the individual to eat substantially greater quantities of food than one would normally be allowed on a diet program. In fact, one can consume almost twice as much. It is important that one recognises that this new diet program does not allow one to eat as much as one wants. It does, however, greatly increase the amount and variety of foods that can be eaten on other diet regimes. Specifically, one can eat as much as 1200 additional calories per day in the form of starches (bread, potatoes, pastas, rice, etc.) when compared to other diet programs.

The ingestion of one AMX brand amylase inhibitor tablet with each meal will block the breakdown of dietary starches and will permit only the digestion and absorption of the essential non-starch constituents of the meal. Only AMX, through it's unique molecular weight separation process can provide the most effective way to prevent the digestion of starches. No other product can match the effectiveness of AMX without the use of unnatural chemical processes.

  • chia seeds

The chia plant is an annual that belongs to the mint family. Chia seeds are considered ‘superfoods’ for their high content of omega-3 fatty acids, and α-linolenic acid. They are also rich in protein, fat, dietary fibre, and essential minerals. Chia seeds slow down the speed the body converts carbohydrates into simple sugars, and swell to create a feeling of fullness, and are therefore ideal for assisting in weight management.

  • baobab fruit pulp powder

Baobab fruit has been used for a multitude of purposes for hundreds of years, from food to medicine. Baobab fruit is highly nutritious and full of naturally-occurring vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. It has three times as much vitamin C as an orange, two times more antioxidant capacity than goji berries, and 50% more calcium than spinach. Baobab is also an energy booster, antiviral and anti-inflammatory.

  • raspberry ketones

Raspberry ketone is a natural phenolic compound. Studies have shown it increases the secretion of a protein hormone which modulates metabolic processes such as glucose regulation and fatty acid catabolism, which correlate with body fat percentage. It may also help control type 2 diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic syndrome.

  • cape aloes

Cape Aloes (Aloe ferox) is a plant related to the more common Aloe vera, growing on the Cape Horn of South Africa. Cape aloe is a medicinal herb. The leaf juice can be dried into a dark brown to black crystalline powder, called aloes. This very bitter substance acts as a tonic, purgative, and anthelmic. Aloes are used to cleanse & detoxify the digestive tract.

  • pomegranate seed powder

Pomegranate has recently been discovered to be an extremely potent antioxidant, and contains polyphenols, phytoestrogens, and essential amino acids. It has been shown to be beneficial in reducing the risk of heart disease and lowering cholesterol, and promoting all-round heart health.

  • chitosan

Chitosan is derived from chitin, which is found in the exoskeletons of shellfish such as crabs and prawns. It is similar to plant fibre in that it cannot be digested by the human body.
Chitosan is a fat blocker, absorbing four to six times its weight in fat as it passes through the digestive tract. It thereby flushes fat out of the body before it becomes metabolised and stored as excess body weight.
