Environmental Considerations

Our vision is to be the leading supplier of nutritional products in Europe. This includes recognising our responsibilities to environmental protection and committing to achieve environmental compliance throughout our business.

We recognise that our activities interact with the environment, and are therefore committed to minimising adverse impacts; We aim to comply with all current and future environmental legislation, prevent pollution where possible by controlling releases to the environment, involve employees and contractors in our environmental programmes, and incorporate appropriate environmental factors into business decisions, including the selection process for vendors.

We manage our environmental performance through maximising the efficient use of resources such as materials, fuel and energy, and encouraging recycling. We have recycled used paper for over 9 years, and in May 2003, since the move to the new headquarters, we noted an increase in packaging waste and so implemented a new strategy of recycling cardboard packaging. Policy states that all used ink cartridges are also recycled.

An emphasis on good purchasing and forecasting systems mean that most of our goods can be imported by sea, helping to keep the carbon footprint as low as possible.

We endeavour to always use environmentally aware companies; Parcelforce, who currently provides the majority of our logistical services, became one of the first companies in the UK to gain certification under the Carbon Trust Standard, launched in 2008 to encourage organisations to measure, manage, and reduce their carbon footprints through real reductions in emissions rather than offsetting only.
